Pinjar movie review

Pinjar" is a novel written by Amrita Pritam in Punjabi.Late, Khushwant Singh translated it into english in 2009. A film is directed by Ram Prakash Dwivedi based on this. This story presents the condition of women during the India Pakistan partition.

Puro is the main character of this story who is a Hindu girl.She lives with her parents and brother Trilok and sister Rajjo.Puro is engaged to Ramchandra,a Hindu Boy of village Chandhwani. But some how she met a Muslim boy Rasheed.He has first sight love with Puro.But he had to kidnapped Puro because of some family issues.lThen She request him to let her go but Rasheed didn't.One day she ran away from Rasheed place and went to her family house but her family denied to accept her.Rasheed married Puro.Then Rasheed and Puro went another village.He named Puro as Hamida there. An incident happened Puro is suffering from missgaraged of seven month old child of father Rasheed.Puro met a mad girl names Lammo who was raped by a man who gave birth to a boy named Javed and die.Puro said a quote that how a man raped a women who had no beauty no youth only a body of bones and hass.But the boy saved by Puro and she took care him 6 months. But Hindu leader of the village snatched the boy because the mad woman was a Hindu.

 

During this period, partition is done.Hindu and Muslim people start kill each other because Hindi people belongs to IndiaDuring and Muslim people belongs to Pakistan. The Rasheed family lived in Pakistan.The condition of women became worse, rapped, physically an mentally tortured by manof both religion.During this migration Lajjo( wife of Trilok) is under a Muslim family but Rasheed escaped her gave her to the family.By this act Puro impressed by Rasheed and start love him.

This movie reflects the condition of women affected by this partition.This partition shows how people had to suffer,how they had to place their childhood, how a partition creates violence between people on the basis of religion.The story gives a way of understanding that how people divide their soul on the basis of this period, partition is done.Hindu and Muslim people start kill each other because Hindi people belongs to IndiaDuring and Muslim people belongs to Pakistan.
